Brain-Boosting Smoothies for Kids - Berry-Cado

You love avocado on a sandwich or mashed up for guacamole, but putting avocado in your smoothie? Oh yes!

If your kid’s freaked out by avocados, blend some into this smoothie. The healthy, monounsaturated fats in the fruit contribute to healthy blood flow, which makes for a healthy brain!

Not only does avocado add a fantastic creamy texture to your smoothie, but it also adds a generous amount of healthy avocado oils – which are rich in omega fatty acids.

Why Avocado? Sometimes I simply crave avocado. I could easily eat creamy avocado flesh with a spoon. Or simply slather it on some crackers, bread or a warmed tortilla and I’m in cado-heaven. Creamy, satisfying and packed with healthy fats and energy. And if you think a fat-rich avocado has no place in a healthy fruit smoothie – think again – healthy fats from foods like avocados are a part of a well-balanced diet.

Plus instead of a carb-rich smoothie – by adding healthy fats to your sip you’ll be rounding out your ratio of carbs, fats and you can even add in protein (via any variety of milk, yogurt or protein powder – I like vegan soy or hemp varieties). So now your smoothie will fill you up longer and get you through a busy day with gusto!

Kid-Friendly! A smoothie is a great way to get your kids to eat avocado. Maybe raw avocado – straight up is a bit too bold for them. In this smoothie they will barely taste the avocado flavor – but they will love the creamy texture.
